The Comprehensive Benefits of Holistic Chiropractic Care

Goudarz Vassigh · January 24, 2024 ·

In the journey to a healthier and happier self, many are turning to holistic approaches that address the body as a unified system. Holistic or whole-body chiropractic care emerges as a powerful ally, offering a range of benefits beyond the traditional focus on spinal adjustments. Many comprehensive advantages of embracing whole-body chiropractic care include a balanced nervous system, pain management and relief, and more.

1. Balanced Nervous System

Whole-body chiropractic care seeks to ensure proper alignment of the spine, allowing for improved communication between the brain and the rest of the body. This alignment contributes to a balanced nervous system, positively impacting various bodily functions. We tailor our approach by offering manual adjustments, laser therapy, and instrument adjustments to accommodate the individual’s needs.

2. Reducing Headaches and Migraines

Through spinal adjustments, holistic chiropractors correct misalignments in the spine, particularly in the neck region, reducing pressure on nerves, muscles, and blood vessels that may trigger headaches. By promoting proper spinal alignment and reducing muscle tension, adjustments address common triggers for tension headaches and migraines while increasing blood flow to the brain.

3. Reducing the Need for Opioid and Over-the-Counter Medications to Manage Pain

Holistic chiropractors play an instrumental role in reducing patients’ reliance on medications. Unlike many pain-relief drugs prescribed by general practitioners, which often entail unwelcome side effects, chiropractic care offers a natural alternative. By minimizing the need for opioid and other medications, chiropractic care not only promotes a healthier approach to pain management but also proves to be more cost-effective in the long run.

4. Improved Posture

Holistic chiropractic care emphasizes posture correction, addressing imbalances that may lead to chronic pain and discomfort. Better posture not only supports spinal health but also contributes to a more confident and aligned physical presence.

5. Boosted Immune System

Research suggests that chiropractic care can positively influence the immune system. By optimizing nervous system function, chiropractic adjustments contribute to a stronger immune response, helping the body defend against inflammation and illnesses more effectively. We offer nutrition and dieting solutions to help optimize your body’s immune responses.

6. Stress Reduction

Whole-body chiropractic care is not just about physical adjustments – it also encompasses the individual’s holistic well-being. Regular chiropractic sessions can help reduce stress levels by promoting relaxation and balancing the body’s stress response. On the spa side of our wellness center, we offer a variety of other stress reduction methods, including massages and facials.

7. Improved Sleep Quality

Many individuals report better sleep quality after undergoing chiropractic care. The relaxation and pain relief achieved through adjustments can contribute to more restful and rejuvenating sleep.

8. Enhanced Athletic Performance

Athletes often turn to chiropractic care to optimize their performance. Whole-body adjustments can improve biomechanics, increase the range of motion, and reduce the risk of injuries, allowing athletes to perform at their peak.

9. Digestive Health

The nervous system plays a crucial role in digestive function. Holistic chiropractic care may positively impact digestive health by ensuring optimal nerve communication to the digestive organs.

10. Reduces Inflammation

Inflammation is the primary culprit behind pain in the neck, upper and lower back, and joint tissues. Chronic inflammation intertwines with serious health conditions like heart disease and cancer. Spinal inflammation can be significantly reduced through targeted chiropractic adjustments, serving as a protective shield against a spectrum of inflammation-related diseases.

Whole-body chiropractic care offers a holistic and integrative approach to health, addressing not only spinal alignment but also the interconnected systems of the body. As individuals increasingly recognize the importance of a unified approach to well-being, chiropractic care stands out as a valuable tool in achieving optimal health and unlocking the body’s innate potential for healing and vitality. Whether seeking relief from pain, enhancing performance, or promoting overall wellness, whole-body chiropractic care is a transformative and comprehensive solution for those on the path to holistic health.

6 Ways to Prevent Dry Skin in a Phoenix, Arizona Winter

Goudarz Vassigh · January 1, 2024 ·

As winter settles in Phoenix, Arizona, the dry and cool climate can wreak havoc on your skin, leaving it parched and lacking moisture. While the desert landscape may be beautiful, it poses unique challenges to maintaining healthy, hydrated skin during the winter months. There are practical tips and a skincare routine to help you avoid dry skin and keep your complexion glowing all winter long.

1. Hydration from Within

In the desert, staying hydrated is crucial not only for your overall health but also for maintaining skin moisture. Ensure you drink an ample amount of water throughout the day to combat the dehydrating effects of the arid climate. Incorporate hydrating foods rich in water content, such as watermelon, cucumber, and citrus fruits, into your diet to support your skin from the inside out.

2. Gentle Cleansing

Opt for a mild, hydrating cleanser to avoid stripping your skin of its natural oils. Harsh cleansers can exacerbate dryness, so choose products that are sulfate-free and designed to maintain your skin’s moisture barrier. Consider cleansing your face with lukewarm water instead of hot water to prevent further dehydration.

3. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Invest in a rich, emollient moisturizer to combat the dry Arizona air. Apply your moisturizer immediately after cleansing, while your skin is still slightly damp, to lock in moisture. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and ceramides, which help attract and retain moisture. Don’t forget to extend your moisturizing routine to your body as well, especially areas prone to dryness like elbows, knees, and heels. Remember your winter moisturizer should be more rich, and hydration-locking than your summer moisturizer.

4. Sunscreen is Still Essential

Even during the winter months, Arizona’s sun can be intense. Sunscreen is a year-round essential to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, which can contribute to dryness and premature aging. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and apply it generously to all exposed skin, including your face, neck, and hands.

5. Humidify Your Environment

Combat the dry indoor air by using a humidifier in your home, particularly in your bedroom. Humidifiers add moisture to the air, preventing your skin from becoming overly dry while you sleep. This simple addition to your environment can make a significant difference in maintaining optimal skin hydration.

6. Exfoliate with Caution

While exfoliation is beneficial for removing dead skin cells, be cautious not to overdo it, especially in a dry climate. Limit exfoliation to once or twice a week using a gentle exfoliant to avoid stripping your skin of essential moisture. Consider incorporating a hydrating mask into your routine to replenish and soothe your skin.

Achieving and maintaining healthy, hydrated skin in an Arizona winter requires a thoughtful and consistent skincare routine. By staying hydrated, choosing the right products, and being mindful of environmental factors, you can enjoy radiant and moisturized skin throughout the season. Embrace these tips, and let your skin glow even in the midst of the desert chill.

Embracing Wellness: Overcoming the Fear of Going to the Chiropractor

Goudarz Vassigh · November 27, 2023 ·

If you’re scrolling through Facebook or Instagram reels, you may come across a meme trend with the caption “Chiropractors be like.” In the video a woman has a Party Size bag of chips and says “Alright, relax your shoulders, relax your shoulders,” followed by a “CRUNCH!” sound as she twists the chip bag and remarks “Ah, beautiful crunch.” The trend is thankfully outdated now, but there’s always a bit of truth in humor.

The sound that comes from adjustments can be alarming, especially for people who have never been to the chiropractor. The “cracking” bears a resemblance to dramatic neck-snapping movie sound effects, but there is a rational explanation for why bones “pop” when adjusted. Furthermore, there are numerous reasons why seeking care from chiropractors is not only entirely safe, but also highly beneficial.

Why do bones “pop” when you go to the chiropractor?

Joints are surrounded by a capsule fluid called synovial fluid. This fluid contains dissolved gasses like carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and oxygen. When adjustments apply pressure to the joints a gas bubble forms. As a chiropractor adjusts or manipulates an area, the gas bubble pops and pressure releases making a popping or cracking sound. The bones themselves aren’t popping. The sound is harmless and there’s no pain or injury associated with the gas bubble popping between joints.

Are Chiropractic adjustments safe?

Chiropractic adjustments are safe as long as they are performed by a trained and licensed Chiropractor. Serious complications are rare and some conditions are too severe for chiropractors to treat like severe osteoporosis, cancer in spine, or loss of strength in arms.

Can chiropractors cause more damage?

Like with any healthcare professional, a well-trained chiropractor will not cause any more damage. It’s crucial to choose a chiropractor that uses evidence-based practices.

How do chiropractors know where to do adjustments?

Chiropractors use a combination of assessment techniques and diagnostic tools to determine where to perform adjustments. The primary focus is often on the spine, as spinal misalignments can affect the nervous system and overall body function.

Are manual adjustments all chiropractors can do?

Chiropractic care has significantly evolved over the years, expanding beyond traditional manual adjustments. While manual adjustments are the cornerstone of chiropractic care, other tools like low-frequency laser therapy and the ProAdjuster, ProSoft, ProBalance are becoming more prevalent.

Is the ProAdjuster just as effective as manual adjustments?

Yes, the ProAdjuster is just as effective and doesn’t include any cracking, popping, or twisting.

How long are chiropractic adjustments?

Chiropractic adjustments can be anywhere between 15 and 45 minutes.

WIll I feel pain during my appointment?

You shouldn’t feel pain during your appointment. Communicate with your chiropractor if you are experiencing any pain. After your appointment, you may feel sore, but this tends to go away in a few days.

Are chiropractors real doctors?

Chiropractors are Doctors of Chiropractic or DCs. If your definition of “real doctor” is in the sense of a Medical Doctor, then no they are not Medical Doctors, but they are doctors or experts in the field of chiropractic.

How many adjustments until I start feeling better?

The number of chiropractic adjustments needed to feel better can vary widely depending on factors such as the nature and severity of the condition receiving treated, individual response to treatment, overall health, and the specific treatment plan recommended by the chiropractor.

My friend can pop my back so why should I go?

Your friend will only help a limited amount compared to how much a chiropractor can help. Your chiropractor will offer you a comprehensive approach that may include multiple visits and lifestyle changes to prevent further injury.

Getting over the fear of going to the chiropractor is a big step toward prioritizing your health and well-being. By educating yourself, choosing the right practitioner, and communicating openly, you can embrace the benefits of chiropractic care and begin a journey to a healthier, more aligned you.

Breaking Through Plateaus: Understanding Why Your Weight Loss Stalls

Goudarz Vassigh · October 20, 2023 ·

Losing weight is often a challenging journey filled with dedication, discipline, and patience. Many individuals experience a frustrating phenomenon during their weight loss journey: the dreaded plateau. Understanding why weight loss plateaus occur can empower you to make informed decisions and stay motivated to become healthier.

1. Metabolic Adaptation

When you start losing weight, your body adapts to the changes. As you shed pounds, your metabolism can slow down, requiring fewer calories to maintain your reduced weight. This metabolic adaptation can lead to a calorie deficit that is insufficient for weight loss, causing your progress to stall.

2. Water Retention

Fluctuations in water retention can mask your actual fat loss. Various factors, such as increased sodium intake, hormonal changes, or changes in exercise routines, can cause your body to retain water. This retention can lead to temporary weight fluctuations, giving the impression of a weight loss plateau.

3. Muscle Gain vs. Fat Loss

Regular exercise, especially strength training, increases muscle mass while losing fat. Muscle is denser than fat, so while your body composition is improving, the scale might not reflect significant weight loss. Monitoring changes in body measurements and how your clothes fit can provide a more accurate picture of your progress.

4. Calorie Intake Creep

Over time, it’s common to underestimate portion sizes or become lax in tracking calorie intake. Consuming more calories than you think, even in small amounts, can offset your calorie deficit, halting weight loss progress. Being mindful of your food choices and tracking your intake diligently can help you identify hidden sources of extra calories.

5. Plateau as a Natural Process

Weight loss is not linear; it often occurs in spurts and plateaus. Your body needs time to adjust to the changes, and during this period, weight loss might temporarily stall. Patience and persistence are crucial; continuing your healthy habits can eventually break through the plateau.

6. Stress and Sleep:

Chronic stress and inadequate sleep can impact your body’s cortisol levels, affecting your weight loss efforts. High cortisol levels can lead to increased fat storage, making it harder to lose weight. Focusing on stress-reduction techniques, such as meditation or yoga, and ensuring adequate sleep can support your weight loss goals.

Experiencing a weight loss plateau is a common and natural part of the journey toward a healthier lifestyle. By understanding the factors contributing to plateaus, you can navigate these challenges with patience and determination. Stay consistent with your healthy habits, be mindful of your calorie intake, and consider incorporating varied exercises to keep your body challenged. Remember, the scale doesn’t always tell the full story; focus on how you feel, your improved energy levels, and changes in your body composition. With persistence and a positive mindset, you can overcome plateaus and continue progressing toward your weight loss goals.

What should I do after a car accident?

Goudarz Vassigh · June 8, 2023 ·

DISCLAIMER: This blog is not legal advice.

Sarah has always been a cautious driver, diligently following traffic rules and maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles on the road. Unfortunately, despite her best efforts, she found herself caught in a life-changing car accident.

It was a sunny afternoon and Sarah was on her way to an important meeting, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of an upcoming presentation. As she approached a busy intersection, the traffic light turned green, and she cautiously entered the intersection.

Out of nowhere, a speeding car ran a red light, colliding with the side of Sarah’s vehicle. The impact was sudden and jarring. Glass shattered, metal twisted, and the screeching sound of tires filled the air.

Disoriented and in shock, Sarah felt the world around her blur into chaos. Sirens wailed in the distance as bystanders rushed to the scene, their concerned voices blending into a cacophony. A flood of adrenaline surged through her veins, masking the pain that was slowly beginning to make itself known.

Emergency services arrived swiftly and Sarah was carefully extricated from her vehicle and placed on a stretcher, her mind swirling with questions about the well-being of the other driver and the consequences of this unforeseen event.

Over the next few weeks, Sarah embarked on a journey of physical and emotional healing. Physical therapy and chiropractic sessions became a regular part of her routine as she worked to regain her strength and mobility. The support of loved ones, friends, and even strangers who had witnessed the accident uplifted her spirits and reminded her of the resilience of the human spirit.

Being involved in a car accident is an unfortunate event that nobody wishes to experience. However, the reality is that such incidents occur frequently. In fact, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation, there were a staggering 51,633 individuals who sustained injuries in crashes in the year 2021 alone. In the scenario we’re discussing, Sarah was promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention. However, if you find yourself in a similar situation, there are certain actions you can take immediately following a car accident.

What should I do immediately after a car accident?

  1. Call the police: Regardless of the severity of the accident, it’s generally a good idea to call the police and report the accident. Many times insurance companies will use this in their investigation and if you’re not at fault, it can help your case.
  2. Check for injuries: If you’re injured, try not to exert too much effort when moving or call for help if there are bystanders nearby.
  3. Move to a safe location: If you’re able, move your vehicle out of traffic and to the side of the road to avoid further accidents or hazards. Turn on your hazard lights to alert other drivers.
  4. Exchange information: Gather names, contact details, insurance information, license plate number, and make, model, and color of the car.
  5. Avoid admitting fault: Be careful what you say at the scene. Don’t apologize or implicate that you weren’t paying attention or fully coherent.
  6. Document the scene: Take photos or videos of the accident scene, including any damage to the vehicle, skid marks, and relevant road signs. This will all help with your claim.
  7. Notify your insurance company: Notify your insurance company about the accident as soon as possible. Provide them with accurate and detailed information about what happened.
  8. Consult with an attorney: If you’re injured, it’s important to make sure you’re getting all your medical bills taken care of. Attorneys thoroughly look through your and the other driver’s insurance policy and can try to get you the maximum pay out. This way you can fully focus on recovering, instead of blowing through your emergency fund.
  9. Seek medical attention: Even if you don’t feel immediate pain or injuries, it’s important to seek medical attention. Some injuries like whiplash may not be apparent right away, but documenting your medical condition is crucial for your well-being and insurance claims.

Recovering from a car accident can be challenging and lengthy. While immediate medical attention is essential, it is equally important to consider comprehensive and results-driven therapies to aid rehabilitation. Integrating advanced chiropractic methods and massage therapy offers a comprehensive solution for healing, pain relief, and overall well-being. We use non-invasive machines like the ProAdjuster360, ProBalance, and the ProSoft360 that provide healing for a wide range of injuries including traumatic brain injuries and injuries suffered on the extremities.

ProAdjuster360, ProBalance, and ProSoft360 are not only beneficial for general health and wellness but also play a crucial role in car accident injury rehabilitation. Following a car accident, individuals often suffer from musculoskeletal injuries and discomfort. ProAdjuster360, with its precise computerized analysis and gentle adjustments, can effectively target and correct misalignments in the spine caused by the impact. This aids in relieving pain, improving range of motion, and promoting proper healing of injured tissues. Additionally, ProBalance focuses on restoring balance and stability to the body, which is essential during the recovery process. By targeting core muscles and enhancing coordination, ProBalance helps individuals regain strength and stability, reducing the risk of further injuries. Finally, ProSoft360’s percussive vibrations can be utilized to address muscle tightness and adhesions that commonly result from car accidents. This soft tissue therapy aids in releasing tension, promoting circulation, and expediting the rehabilitation process. With their combined benefits, ProAdjuster360, ProBalance, and ProSoft360 provide valuable support and aid in the comprehensive rehabilitation of car accident injuries.

Negative Long-Term Effects of Neglecting Back Rehabilitation

Failing to prioritize proper back rehabilitation after a car accident can have severe long-term consequences. Neglected injuries can lead to chronic pain, reduced functionality, and an increased risk of secondary injuries.

Scar tissue may develop, impeding proper movement and causing persistent discomfort. Additionally, untreated musculoskeletal imbalances may result in poor posture, increased joint stress, and accelerated spinal structure degeneration over time.

Advanced chiropractic care offers numerous holistic benefits when recovering from car accidents.

It’s crucial to take immediate action after a car accident to ensure your safety and protect your legal rights. Contacting the police, checking for injuries, moving to a safe location, exchanging information, documenting the scene, notifying your insurance company, and seeking medical attention are all important steps to take. Additionally, incorporating advanced chiropractic methods and therapies like ProAdjuster360, ProBalance, and ProSoft360 can greatly aid in the rehabilitation process and promote healing from car accident injuries. Neglecting proper back rehabilitation can have long-term negative effects, underscoring the importance of comprehensive care and addressing injuries promptly. By prioritizing your well-being and seeking appropriate treatments, you can improve your chances of a full recovery and minimize the risk of long-term complications.
